Entry Requirements

The EVAs are open to all journalists / media organisations for work produced for a Victorian-inclusive audience. Each category winner  will be a contender for the  Gold EVA award. For more information on specific categories see Award Categories and Prizes. The Judges' decision on all awards will be final.

 

 

ENTRY ELIGIBILITY

Entries are limited to items produced in a media capacity and representing a commercial or independent media individual/body. Entrants may submit a single entry in up to three categories; this must be indicated on one entry form. Multiple entries may be submitted for one or more categories, but they must be completed on separate nomination forms. Please ensure all relevant documentation and copies for each entry are included on each nomination forms.

 

All entries must:

• Have been published, posted (online), broadcast or televised between 1st January 2012 & 31st December 2012.

• Be original work and comply with copyright requirements.

• Include a declaration from your employer or commissioning company.

• Adhere to the MEAA Code of Ethics.

• Provide a translation where the original piece is not in English.

 

Entering a series:

A collection of pieces may be entered as a series where all of the following exist:

• There is specific content relationship between the pieces

• All pieces are within the timeframe January 1 2012 to December 31 2012

• The Entry Statement speaks to the relationship between the pieces in the series. No more than four pieces may be entered together as a series.

 

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

The EVAs Advisory Committee reserves the right to use all material submitted for use in the awards presentation and to reproduce it for the purposes of promoting the awards. Please note that entries and submitted material will not be returned. There is no fee for entering the awards. All entries must be submitted by the closing date.

 

 

HOW TO ENTER YOUR WORK

All entries must be accompanied by an entry statement (maximum 300 words) outlining the case for consideration of the award. This may address criteria or relevant background information.

 

Entries must be entered in the following formats

 

Print

  • Completed Entry Form
  • Statement (max. 300 words)
  • 1 x digital file of media item being entered (PDF**) - uploaded with online entry or posted on a labelled disk/USB
  • [If possible] 1 x digital file of tear sheet (published page) OR 1 x hard copy of original or colour copied tear sheet (published page)

 

 

Photograph/Graphic/Illustration

  • Completed Entry Form
  • Statement (max. 300 words)
  • 1 x high-resolution digital file of image (no larger than 8MB) [uploaded with online entry; OR posted on disk/USB]
  • 1 x copy of article that image appeared with [digital file uploaded with online entry; OR posted digital file on disk/USB OR printout]
  • [If possible] 1 x copy of full published page where image appeared [digital file copied onto disk/USB OR a hard colour copy]

 

 

Radio and TV

  • Completed Entry Form
  • Statement (max. 300 words)
  • 1 x digital file [uploaded with online entry; or posted digital file on CD/DVD bearing the name, address and telephone number of the entrant]
  • [If possible] 1 x copy of transcript [digital file copied onto disk/USB OR a printout]. Please note: transcripts support your entry, especially where there may be issues in audio/visual quality

 

 

Online

  • Completed Entry Form
  • Statement (max. 300 words)
  • 1 x digital file of entry [PDF; uploaded with online entry or posted digital file copied onto disk/USB] internet link alone is NOT acceptable;
  • 1 x URL address where piece can be accessed;
  • ALL ONLINE ENTRIES MUST INCLUDE EVIDENCE OF POSTING DATE
